PPC asked:

Hi,
I'm new to the mountain biking. This is my first bicycle as an adult. I haven't ridden a mountain bike since I was a teenager which is 12 years ago. The Mountain Bike I had as a teenager was a Kmart bike. This time around I picked up a used 2003 Gary Fisher Sugar 3+ which is my first ever nice bicycle. The bike is in excellent condition only used 8-10 times, just got tuned up and shocks are tested fine. It also come with a life time tune up from local bike shop; I paid $400 for it. I think I got a pretty good deal. How is your experience with this bike or the Gary Fisher brand ? What can I expect from this bike ? Any riding tips ?

PS: I have been riding a  motorcycle for the last 8 years and survived a near fatal accident. Now i still want to be on 2 wheels but rather on a safer side.

I have done some research on what bike to purchase and have narrowed it down to a few.

1.Giant Rock Mountain Bike 2007
2. Barracuda 2007 - Colorado
3. Barracuda 2007 - Nariva
4. Raleigh Explore Mt20 Hardtail Mountain Bike 2007

I have been warned off using Halfords so am mainly looking online. My budget is around the £100 - £150 mark and I'm looking for a bike to do cycling round country lanes, woods, fields etc. Please can someone who has more knowledge than me suggest one of the above bikes or an alternative. I'm welcome to any pieces of general advice as well...Many thanks in advance

I just need some new tires for my Giant Yukon. Right now I have the all terrain tires but when I use them on the trails it is hard to go up the steep hills with bad grip, yet they are good for the road...... I would like more aggressive ones and that would great if I could get some colored ones!

New Mountain Bike Chain Wheel problem ?

July 29th, 2009 Desmond Posted in Used Mountain Bikes 2 Comments »

Japan S asked:

I recently replaced my original pedal chain wheel with one from another Mountain Bike . The new one works fine with speed & strenght. However when I change gear using the handlebar selector the chain won't jump to the selected gear
but positions itself between two tooth sets on the rear tire
or it jumps almost of the entire chain.
This is probably because the original number of teeth on the pedal wheel are 48-38-28 and on the new one has 46-36-26.

how can I adjust this or can't I ?

i would appreciate some kind help.

Best way to store a new mountain bike?

July 29th, 2009 Desmond Posted in Used Mountain Bikes 2 Comments »

Keryne asked:

I went to Lowes and bought two bicycle hooks. My plan is to ***** them into the exposed studs of my outdoor utility closet and hang the bike. My question is: will this be a suitable area? I use it to store flower pots, top soil, and a ladder. Should I look into something to cover the bike? On rare occasions of severe rain, this room does get some water. Could this lead to rust? This is a bike that I plan to ride about 3-4 times a week.

Does anyone know anything about helmet cameras?

July 29th, 2009 Desmond Posted in Used Mountain Bikes 1 Comment »

sar12 asked:

I want to purchase a helmet camera for my boyfriend. He would use it for downhill mountain biking in the summer and snowboarding in the winter, so it needs to be able to attach to different style helmets. Any information on helmet cameras, brands, prices and stores where i could find them, would be much appreciated!

Buying a new mountain bike?

July 29th, 2009 Desmond Posted in Used Mountain Bikes 2 Comments »

William R asked:

I am looking to buy a new Mountain Bike from $350-$550. I am looking for a leightweight bike the most, front suspension is also required, but disc brakes are not, rim brakes will do me just fine although if they cost nearly the same as disk brakes, I would shell out the little extra for the disc brakes. I am looking to buy a good brand bike, something that is reliable used or new. What would be some good options?

icecreamgal asked:

I want to get a bike to use for cruising around the lake, the beach, neighborhood.... something not too heavy. Mostly for leisure and for getting good exercise. FYI i know nothing about bikes, my bf rides a couple types of bikes, I think a Mountain Bike and a regular bike and I'd like to ride with him on weekends =) I would ride one of his bikes but it's hard for me to get on /off the bike by myself, his frames are rather too tall for my height.
